DJ-Support from:
A-Trak, Sinden, Fake Blood, Jackson & His Computer Band, Hudson Mohawke, Pete Herbert
, Breakbot, Punks Jump Up, Moulinex, Strip Steve, Llorca, Beni, Bang Gang Deejays

Sinden: "great shit, what a talent!"

Fake Blood: "Like A Player" is great. I am a sucker for baroque style arpeggios, and the synth licks are sweet, too. Properly musical and melodic. Super tight production, too. BUT I wish it didn't end with that fade-out!

Hudson Mohawke: "telephone helicopter applause gunshot my fave track name of the year so far."

Jackson and his Computer Band: "wicked track"

Chloe: "Excellent Release. I love all mixes."

Punks Jump Up: "Great tracks all of them! Love the Sly&Robbie meets Larry Levan & Gwen Guthrie dubbed out percussion with the mazing synth work outs by mr Rhode. Yeah def Roger Troutman meets Hancock! Hard to pick fav tracks as they work on different levels but I'd say
Something Hot for getting ready to go out. The great cover of Mylo's Pressure for warm up in the clubs and Like A Player as the peak! Great release!!!"

Strip Steve: "HOT! EXACTYLY WHAT I WANT TO BOOGIE ON ALL NIGHT AND DAY."

Breakbot: "killer EP!"

Pete Herbert: "Drop the P! digging this very much!"

Ajello: "AMAZING! Pure updated Boogie style! Roger Troutman should be happy of these great tracks!
Thank u for this. Full support"

Mommas Boy: "It's made me go training my disco moves ! its so well produced whaouu love it !!!"

Llorca: "Great bunch of electro-funk masterpieces ! Pretty, pretty, pretty goood !"

Mason: "I've been playing Like A Player everywhere for months now, but the rest is amazing too. Drop the P funk will go down just as nice ;)
Much support from Amsterdam."

Michael Reinboth: "well Bootsy is back, like this phat and crunchyfunky....guess play this."

Following 2009's Motor Cortex EP (electro record of the month in Mixmag) and remixes for Malente&Dex (Exploited), Strip Steve (Boys Noize), Staygold (Magnetron) and Schlachthofbronx (Man Recordings), Lorenz Rhode dives deeper into electrofunk territory this time.
For the shamelessly synth-saturated title track he teams up with infamous Berlin based singer Snax (Ex-Captain Comatose & Supportact for Jamie Lidell, Peaches and the Scissor Sisters), who turns "Something Hot" into something even hotter.
"Like a Player" is a dazzling clash of sacral arpeggios, heavy beats and P-Funk licks - this must be what happens if the organ player at your wedding turns out to be George Clinton.
Another drum machine funk joint, "Drop the P!", features a strangely familiar bassline… hmm… !
And then there's "Telephone Helicopter Applause Gunshot", a peculiar little thingie that could only come from Dusseldorf; we suppose (Kraftwerk's hometown).
Hudson Mohawke (Warp) and Aeroplane (Eskimo) are already fans of Lorenz Rhode!
Watch out for the remix package: Savage Skulls (Dubsided/Mad Decent), Seiji (Bugz in the Attic/Computer Juice), Mattie Safer (Ex-The Rapture), Shazam (Bang Gang)…

A compilation of Exploited tracks & remixes

Shir Khan presents his labels second compilation 'Exploited' (following the critically acclaimed ‘Maximize!‘) which showcases the labels finest moments as well as previously unreleased exclusive cuts. This double CD includes features and remixes by Bonde do Role, Siriusmo, Milanese, SIS, Riva Starr, Modeselektor, Oliver$, Soho, Analogik, Adam Sky, New Kidz (South Rakkas Crew), Jan Driver, Mowgli aka Minimow, Malente&Dex, Tomboy&Fredski, Crookers, Ku Bo as well as guest appearances from labels like Made to Play, Man Recordings, Tartelet, Deadfish, Wagon Repair, and Perlon who represent Zombie Disco Squad, Solo, Cobblestone Jazz, Matt John, The Glimmers, Le Le and Zomby.
The cream of the Exploited‘s back catalogue has been put together on a double CD. The compilation includes a CD of unmixed Exploited tracks (featuring 50% new and exclusive stuff) and a mixed CD by Shir Khan, which includes exclusive Exploited material but also features a few tracks from other labels that has had an influence on the sound of Exploited in general - and Shir Khan in particular.
In the current scene of electro-house, it takes a lot to stand out from the crowd. Shir Khan is absolutely savage, slick, eclectic, multi genred, music savy and connected. Shir Khan's first compilation 'Maximize!‘ was a destructive mix of blazing modern anthems and fresh innovative talent, featuring big names alongside rising stars. With his own radioshow on Fritz, record label, remixes, Berlin Battery club night, and fantastic media coverage thus far, from the likes of Mixmag, I-DJ, Groove and XLR8R; Shir Khan's new 'Exploited' CD promises to strip the wallpaper from the walls of your homestereo.
Exploited has received loyal support from the off (with spins by A-Trak, 2Many Djs, Diplo, Jesse Rose, Switch, Erol Alkan, Boys Noize, Freeform Five, Peaches, Aeroplane, Munk, Radioclit, Tiefschwarz, Dj T and Dj Hell to name a few...). The artist roster boasts Siriusmo, Adam Sky, Mowgli aka Minimow, Malente&Dex and Lorenz Rhode.

Exploited in general

This is a la-la-land of quality dance-floor tunes; a psychedelic paradise of booty-funk, krunked-up hip hop, dancehall&baile funk, freaky electro-house with African percussions, foreign languages, voodooesque Kuduro, gypsy and Bollywood-themes mixed with jacking music.
Exploited blend quality dance music with quality packaging and trendsetting design aesthetics. And the labels second compilation Exploited is proof of this. There's no doubt it's a little gem in either format, simply because it touches on so many genres; from Italo and disco to electro, minimal, techno, house, downtempo and glitchy bidness. Keep an eye on Exploited, as it moves electro out of its infancy and brings the fun back. It's a much needed breath of fresh air and melody in a dance music scene numbed by banging electro, polite house and discordant minimal tech.

Exploited Artwork

The Exploited Records artwork was nominated for Best Art Vinyl 2008. While Maximize! was designed by Berlin underground street legend Nomad (who has recently been commissioned by Demi Moore for an exclusive piece of work), all the other labels artwork - including the new Exploited compilation - have been designed by Marek Polewski from Floor 5 who has won several awards for his work. The covers of all the vinyl releases are pop hybrids by utilising famous pop cover art the Exploited releases then get painted over with the Exploited mark. The Exploited CD features the scandalous painting by french artist Gustave Courbet from 1866 which was being photographed through a kaleidoscope. This oil painting of a vagina was entitled The Origin of the World.

"Musical hybrids are truly the flavour of today, but few have managed to capture the atmosphere of an unpredictable, mashed up DJ set on CD - until now. Shir Khan's mix bottles the zeitgeist's giddy thrills with plenty of style and substance." (DJ-Mag)

"Electro, eastern beats and quirky grooves both mixed and DJ-friendly." (Mixmag)

"With tracks by Adam Sky, Siriusmo and a whole host of other genius artists, into the Exploited melting pot go snake charmers and African tribesmen along with a strong dose of all things electro. Deliciously disjointed, this album proceeds to confuse and amaze, seamlessly cycling though jazz saxophones and bangra, never stopping the addictive beats and basslines. Get ready to feel used to enjoy exploitation." (Clash)

"EXPLOITED is constantly mutating, reverberating with a thousand ideas per minute. You will hear: dense, fast-flowing electro-tinged hiphop, distorted, overdriven P-Funk-esque basslines, spaced-out spangly synths, what sounds like a ravey 'Air on a G String' and a funked-up take on Soho's late 80s pop hit 'Hippychick'. Not to mention lascivious sluttery meets Thai wailing, minimal, old-skool ravey techno, Mr Skruff-style trouser jazz, gruff ragga chat, wobbly monster basslines, tabla-and-flute excursions. Wildly eclectic and joyously funky, it will reassure you that, thank God, not everything's gone Pete Tong." (Bearded Magazine)

"Es ist doch beruhigend, dass es auch von Berlin aus möglich scheint, im internationalen Urban-Freestyle-Alarm eine der lauteren Sirenen zu werden." (De-bug)

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Post-Timberland, M.I.A. and Slumdog Millionaire, the smartest dance producers have embraced our modern, globalised world of cross-cultural collision and information overload. EXPLOITED Records takes up where the likes of 'Coldcut' left off to provide a multi-faceted mix of genres, eras, beats and cultures. EXPLOITED Records leads a merry dance for a massively varied and multi-facteted dancefloor experience.

This new EXPLOITED release is a restless roll through the more tropical climes and comes recommended to any lovers of Man Recordings, Sound Pellegrino, Mad Decent, Made to Play, Dirty Bird, Dubsided or Anabetic.

Today we introduce: CHERNOBYL from Porto Allegre, Brazil - whose collaboration with Praga was already featured on the EXPLOITED-Compilation mixed by Shir Khan.

Since 1995 Dj Chernobyl has had a profound effect on the direction of Brazil's music scene.

He is a pioneer and responsible for bringing Baile Funk (brazilian booty beat) to the world of rock through his band "Comunidade Nin-Jitsu", influencing Edu K to produce his world famous hit "Popozuda".

Chernobyl discovered and signed Bonde do Role, produced their album, introduced them to Diplo (who released them on his Mad Decent label) and has produced most of the tracks on their album ‘With Lasers‘, out on Domino Records.

As a DJ he subverts whatever style of music he plays, from Electro, Miami Bass, 80s, Brazilian Oldschool Baile Funk, Baltimore Club, Afro, Kuduro, or Rock n Roll, bending it all to his NEO BAILE FUNK style.

In 2009 he met Portuguese producers Pedro (Radio Fazuma/Dj Mpula) and Beat Laden from BATIDA who introduced him to PRAGA from Cabo Verde. Chernobyl started editing Baile Funk beats for Praga and made a new Baile Funk vibe mixing his beatbox with Brazilian beats, adding crazy synths and Baile Funk horns to it. BALANÇA has a new balance as this sound mixes Afro-Portugese Raps, American Hip Hop-melodies, Brazilian beats, European Electro noises and Ragga snares.

EMPINA A PIPA features rapper Cabal from Sao Paulo whose track "Senorita" is the biggest Hip Hop-hit in Brazil. For the very first time in history a guy from the Hip Hop-world of Sao Paulo collaborated on a Baile Funk track. Normally people from the Hip Hop-game in Sao Paulo dont respect Baile Funk from Rio de Janeiro. Chernobyl brought Cabal - the most famous rapper from Sao Paolo - together with MC Gi - who is the biggest Baile Funk MC from Santos, a beach near Sao Paulo - to tear down the walls. Watch out for the video from Leandro HBL (director of FAVELA ON BLAST).

These 2 tracks come in a very colourfull package with remixes from all over the place. Its a global affair with global beats:

Whether thats SAMIM from Berlin who heated things up 2 years ago with his hit HEATER on GET PHYSICAL, or RENAISSANCE MAN from Helsinki who are the new Blog darlings and one of the hottest remixers at the moment, or long time friend EDU K from Porto Allegre who kind of proves that he's the man with the billion producer style faces who delivered a Minimal Techno meets Forro interpretation in the sense of his latest Anabetic release.

Or the pure Brazilian tropical style Axé, from Bahia by Rio de Janeiro's hot new talent JOÃO BRASIL who represents the digital folklore of Brazil's Amazon area - also known as Techno brega. Or Daniel Dexter’s aka DEX (one half of duo Malente&Dex) primetime Cut-up Bavaria/Berlin Bounce style. Not to forget TOY SELECTAH from Mexico who has been championing a new-school take on classic Cumbia Colombiana - rhythms that have been on blast in Latin America for decades, but in Toy's remixstyle have perked up ears on both sides of the equator.

And last but not least, BEAT LADEN (one half of BATIDA) from Lisboa who mixes Kwaito with Afro House in his own kind of style. A package not to be missed!

Skanked-up and ready for the floor, this is a slice of what "Exploited" is all about - fun but jacking club wares.
This is tropical party house for new wave techno heads from Malente&Dex.
The last time we saw Malente&Dex was way back when "Hyperactive" was released on Shir Khan's label "Exploited" with a fat and galant note and a slew of mixes from Bobmo, Bird Peterson and Riva Starr. Moving on from the Super Rave Sound the "Bangkok"-EP has a more Tropical-Tech-Thing going on, a ton of trumpets and horns and a great collab with Bonde do Role and Analogik. The title track "Bangkok" features a Thai singing vocal sample that is chopped up and effected to startling when set against the street rhythms and sultry rhyming of Bonde do Role, while "Gipsy Kings" (performed by danish band Analogik) strikes for the Balkan gold with a jaunty house hybrid. It's possessed by the spirit of a dismembered ska track with the voodoo of an after-hours back room club jumping across its grave. "Hitchhiker" goes mental with the bassline. Even Norman Bates, his Mom and that fatal shower shake their booty to this. Remixes from Freeform Five & Round Table Knights.
As always EXPLOITED is crossing DJ styles easily. Just look at the list of supporters of this record: DIPLO (Mad Decent), A-TRAK (Fools Gold), CLAUDE VON STROKE (Dirty Bird), JESSE ROSE (Made to Play), STYLE OF EYE (Pickadoll), UNTOLD (Hessle Audio/Hemlock), DJ ZINC (Bingo Players), ADAM SKY (Exploited), JOE HOT CHIP (DFA), KISSY SELL OUT (BBC Radio1), BRODINSKI (Turbo), RENAISSANCE MAN (Dubsided), DANIEL HAAKSMAN (Man Recordings), SOLO (Deadfish), DJ HELL (Gigolo), KALBATA (Soul Jazz), TOP BILLIN (Top Billin), MOMMA'S BOY (Sound Pellegrino), LORCAN MAK (RuNT Records), LLORCA (F-Communications)

UNTOLD: "Great release. Hitchhiker is a sick tune! Loads of fun, interesting structure. Will get lots of plays from me."
BRODINSKI: "WOAH. This label is so exciting!! The Bangkok one is so good. Perfect for me!"
CLAUDE VON STROKE: "Support!"
KISSY SELL OUT: "Gimmie gimmie! :) Airplay!"

Basti Grub is a german producer who has been consequently releasing Gipsy House and Afro-Beats on his own imprints "Hoehenregler" & "Geregelt".
His mixture of groovy house and african sounds made him unique and unmistakable. Basti Grub's first album "Das Djungel Orchester" was a mix of the organic sounds of the Swing though the 30s and African vocals and Afro-House - all salted with a bit of Dixie-Jazz, Latino, Balkan Rhythms and that certain Big Band Feeling.
Recent work includes a Split-Single with Dj W!ld from Paris (Off/Robsoul Recordings), a compilation track for Matthew Dear's "Body Language Vol.7"-Mix-CD on Get Physical and an upcoming record on Cocoon. With his release "Und das Klavier" we really felt the need to pull him out of his german techno-context and showcase him on a label with global beats of all flavours. Basti Grub is a stand-out talent whose productions have a high-dose of humour combined with funny german titles such as "Direkt Aus Em Busch", "Rambel in De Jangel", "Geh Flöten", or "Wenn ich an die Kosten denke".
"Und das Klavier" is a Basti Grub rework of a well-known Balkan classic. It's a track to make you smile on the dancefloor. "Ringeltangel" is a 100% original Basti Grub production.
The Release is limited to 400 Vinyl-Copies.

Dj-Feedback:
Jesse Rose: "Play for Jesse Rose." / Sinden: "Supporting this!"
Brodinski (Turbo): "This is crazy!!! SICK STUFF i love it. Big support."
Renaissance Man (Dubsided, Sound Pellegrino): "Und das Klavier is a quality tune."
Snax (Captain Comatose): "This is so me. Will definitely play it! "
Phillip Sherburne (Wire/Flavourpill): "I'm intrigued by the spongier feel of "ringeltangel." This track feels like it's actually trying to work with the material,
and not just slapping a folk melody over a beat."
Dj Gorky (Bonde do Role): "Loved the klavier track. Brought a huge smile to my face when I heard it. It's fun and light and at the same time very modern!"
Mastiksoul (4Kenzo): "Nice stuff...I like this."
Sasse (Mood Music): "Nice madness, me likey ! "
Jerry Bouthier (Kitsune): "Like this. It's proper silly ha ha, bravo thank you."
Baby G (Dance Disorder/L.S.B./Eskimo) : "Gimme some more of that gipsy stuff!!!!"
Edu K (Man Recordings): "I've been following Basti for a while now n' love his stuff! You can always tell it's a Basti Grub track when you listen one cuz of
that very special personal twist of his! Und das Klavier is sick! :)"
Rob (Stereo MCs): "Kinda like this stuff."
Camel (Deadfish): "The Basti-touch is pure art for the club!!! i love da record! Thanks."
Round Table Knights: "WOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW!!!! Love it soooooo much!!!"
Zombie Disco Squad (Made to Play): "Well done."
Matt Walsh (Bugged Out): "Track A for me please!"
Peter Pixzel (WetYourSelf/Fabric): "So quirky!!! Love it! It'll find a place in my set no doubt.."

Chloe: "good rework."

"The long version, which sticks closer to the (still fantastic after all theses years) original then goes even further dropping the killer chimes from Finitribe's 1986 epic Detestimony, promising dancefloor delirium for trainspotters and new generation clubbers alike. Version 2 (called Club Edit) has a harder techno edge and is also great. Snap it up fast." (skrufff.com)

About "Lions":

(De-bug)

About "Gipsy Kings":

"Skanked-up and ready for the floor, this is a slice of what Exploited is all about - fun but jacking club wares. It's possessed by the spirit of a dismembered ska track with the voodoo of an after-hours back room club jumping across its grave. Exploited are looking ripe at the moment as their more straight-up club acts nestle nicely alongside more warped floor dons eternally tweaking their sonic manifestos towards experimentalism." (Clash)

"Malente&Dex manage to transform a quirky Balkan ska number into a banging house piece that recalls dOP's livelier moments, Django Reinhardt, and Balkan Beat Box." (xlr8r)

DJ MAG (UK) - "'Keep Groovin' delves into a jackin' jazz territory that's not a million miles away from Greenskeepers."

Tsugi Magazine (FR) - "Weird, but good."

Italian born DJ and producer Mowgli (Michele Savasta), began his career humbly in the north Italian village where he grew up. With few nightclubs to really get lost in and no happening music scene, Mowgli felt compelled to make his own sounds and made do with a cheap keyboard and sampler. It wasn’t long before he discovered hip-hop, immersing himself in the lifestyle and culture before moving to pastures new in Bologna. Once there, Mowgli indulged in all manner of illegal rave diversions until fixing up and making the move to the London in 2006.

Mowgli’s unrelenting ambition to find new directions and expand his musical boundaries saw him experiment with different musical genres, but his time spent producing Drum and Bass in Bologna left him with elements to his sound that made it instinctively recognisable. Mowgli’s first EP on Mantra really pricked the ears of the industry and grabbed the attention of the underground House scene. In the year that followed, Mowgli’s bootleg of the Chemical Brothers,” Do It Again”, led to an influx of remix requests, some of which include X-Press 2, Santogold, The Sugababes, Martin Solveig, Armand Van Helden, Tommy Sparks, Tricky and Simian Mobile Disco amongst others.

In 2008, Mowgli began work on a new project, his own record label called Dead Fish. Supported by radio play from the likes of Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Xfm and Kiss, releases from the label have commanded attention the world over. The track “Pa Po Pon” has been Mowgli's most notable release so far on Dead Fish, the radio play for which has spurred labels from across the globe to get in touch and Mowgli is currently working on a full vocal version of the track. Back on the DJ front, tours of Europe have seen Mowgli grace the decks at the Social in Paris, Cocoon in Frankfurt, Maria in Berlin, Brancaleone in Rome not to mention Matter, Fabric and Ministry in London. As well as this, a tour of Australia in Nov which included the Stereosonic Festival, was an enormous success and a return tour is planned for the end of this year. It’s a similar story with a tour of South Africa, with the crowds blown away and wanting more soon…

With a deep running passion and thirst for knowledge, resolute on finding his own sound, Mowgli keeps himself busy with side projects. One such diversion he's currently working on is Minimow, a minimal, deep inspired project in its early stages.

His current release 'Bollyhouse' (under his alter-ego of Minimow) is for fans of Ananda'esque, fun filled, quirky house music. With the recent influx of ethnic and African samples, it is refreshing to hear something with an Asian flavour. Built around the full rounded sounds of the traditional Tabla and Bayan drums, and woven brilliantly together with its Sitar melody, and Indian Flute. It is topped off with is trippy cut of vocal sample.

'Keep Groovin'' is our personal fave. Its stunning use of Jazz Trumpet in the breaks, welded together by the heavy-assed bassline, delightful piano stabs, demon wire-snare-hi-hat sounds and bongo work, make this a sure player, whether you wanna take things deeper or ramp it up...

Finally topping off the package is man of the moment 'SIS', who gets his hands on 'Bollyhouse' and turns in a truly delightful re-working. Playing heavily on the flute line, SIS creates a beautiful atmospheric number, dubbing the bassline even further, and dropping some wonderful wooden Xylophone work. This is a fantastic remix!

Overall a great release from Minimow and Exploited Records. This release is set make its mark.

See Mowgli aka Minimow droppin madness in Brazil

Title: The Imperious Urge 12"
Street Date Vinyl: March 11th, 2009

Comes with remixes from Tomski&Fredboy (Tartelet/Get Physical), Kubo (Man Recordings), JBAG (Kitsune)

Being played by Riton, D-I-R-T-Y Soundsystem, Bang Gang Deejays, Crookers...

‘The Imperious Urge’ (EXPLOITED)
"Like good wine, Adam Sky ages well. This great British eccentric - once called Adamski remember? - combines punky edge, pop hooks and electro quirkiness like no other. With the late Danny Williams on vocals (he sang on the 1961 easy-listening hit ‘Moon River’) new single ‘The Imperious Urge’ almost sounds like a forgotten Danceteria record - racey Chaka Khan keyboard riff, lovers rock vocal and poetic lyrics about sex." (Jerry Bouthier)

Tigas brother (Thomas Von Party) recently said about Adam Sky: "I know that Tiga had a picture of Adam Sky up on his wall when he was a kid, that he wanted to BE him, and that Adam put his first record out 30 years ago, which dethrones Sven Väth and makes him the longest-active, still relevant producer as far as I know."

"Shir Khan's excellent Exploited imprint continues to straddle boundaries with this first salvo into 2009.
Think Electronic P-funk, spruced up by old skool house and wrung through an electro mangle. (DJmag UK)

"P-funk electro sounds that wouldn't be out of place in Chromeo's glovebox. A great EP and a name to watch from Düsseldorf." (Electro Single of the Month/MIXMAG UK)

"One of Berlin's ascendant labels return again with an '80s-drenched monster. The Retro-italo flavours will drown you in memories of baggy trousers and terrible, terrible haircuts. This is an essential purchase for those chasing cosmic disco dreams." (Clash Magazine UK)

"Germany-based Rhodes delivers a hypnotic electro-funk concoction in the form of nine tracks." (XLR8R Top10)

"A jackin' smasher from Düsseldorf lad Rhode on Shir Khan's label, all jittering yet dreamy beams of disco-techno and nods to Krautrock." (TIme Out Magazine/UK)

"Bescheiden in der Attitüde, ohne prahlerischen Anspruch auf die nächste Club-Hymne, aber doch zauberhaft einnehmend in Harmonie und Beat präsentiert sich Lorenz Rhode auf dieser EP." (SZ/Jetzt)

"Fusing electro funk, old school house and b-boy hand claps, this manages to sound like every great body-popping 80s synth record ever produced - and that's just the title track! The rest is like Yellow Magic Orchestra soundtracking 'The Breakfast Club'. Ace!" (Crack Magazine, UK)

Exploited / GH-11
Artist: Lorenz Rhode
Title: Motor Cortex EP
Street Date Vinyl: February 11th, 2009

Comes with Remixes from Minimow&Solo (aka Mowgli&Solo), Ben Mono

Originally starting as a House kid, Lorenz Rhode (from Düsseldorf, Germany) has evolved his music into a custom blend of influences over the years.
Think one part Electro Funk, one part 80's synthesizer Megalomania, one part old school House music, a Soul feel, occasional Krautrock or J-Pop glimpses and a certain weirdness. Or if you prefer name dropping: Rick James dating Chaka Khan, dancing to Daft Punk and Technotronic, making sweet love to a Stevie Wonder ballad, when suddenly a group of German robots and a Yellow Magic Orchestra come rushing into the hotel suite and... they all decide to go to France instead. Like that.
Lorenz Rhode plays classical piano and drums, loves keyboards, tries to combine musical complexity with the straightness of club music, and still thinks synth solos are a good thing. Sometimes.
His recent collaborations with the famed Compost Records label (check out his supercool SHAKE IT-12”) introduced him to a wider audience.
Now he's back with a new EP on Shir Khan's rapidly rising Exploited Records and hopes you like it!
The Vinyl comes with a stripped down version from Italian Bad Boys Mowgli (who now uses the name Minimow for more minimal productions) and Solo from the London label Fresh Fish. As digital bonus we have one remix from german producer Ben Mono (who also plays guitar for the bavarian Gomma-boys Munk) and one from Lorenz Rhode himself: ‘Kinky and The Grain’ – a true Krautrock meets DAF-experience.

Damp cellars, abandonded warehouses, strobe lights and hot sweat are what comes to mind when listening to the debut release of Malente & Dex on Exploited. "Hyperactive" is this energetic EP's title track, a name that fits the music as well as its effect on the dance-floor.

Malente and Dex are no strangers to the scene. Malente has already released 5 solo albums (with an upcoming single on "Southern Fried" and A-Traks label "Fools Gold") and is constantly touring between America, Australia and Europe. Dex, on the other hand, is one of the hottest new German artists, whose tracks have found their way on to the official Klaxons mix cd ("Bugged Out") as well as the playlists of legends like Laurent Garnier and Kevin Saunderson.

Together these two really click, channelling their love of music into a mixture of rough, state-of-the-art beats and a healthy dose of oldschool power.

On remix duties, we have Riva Starr (Dirty Bird) with a hot feature from Londons Grime-MCs Jammer&Frisco, Bobmo (Institubes) and Bird Peterson. A select list of artists, each of whom has an individual trademark style, put to full effect in each of the remixes.

What's a vintage Atari game got to do with a threesome? Or Boogie Nights with the recycling culture of club music? And why is it that Red Wine lipstick tastes like watermelon? The answer : when RQM laces a tune - even the least likely combination of words make a whole lot of sense.

Miss Pacman is a monster of a club track that comes in 5 different booty tingling versions backing a pheromone-molotov-cocktail of story line that'll put a smile on your face, even if you're not the hardcore clubbing type.

The original produced by Boris Meinhold (Micatone/Sonarkollektiv/Berlin) is a radio friendly banger with a mild twist of pop. RQM delivers his lines with such ease that it sounds like he's right by your ear coaxing you into doing no good, while his accomplice Eva Be (Sonarkollektiv/Best Seven) drives it home with a sexy breath of a chorus: "You can't leave without doing this!!"

Oliver$ (Made to play/Berlin) takes it to a prime time dance floor with his tight, sweaty click-house edit stuttering and cutting RQMs lines to give the song a drug anthem twist. Mission accomplished!!

The Dj Chernobyl (producer of Bonde de Role/Brazil) remix goes straight for the hip and the bubble bounce by adding that baile funk sense of humor the formula.

Act Yo Age (hot newcomers from Sidney who just signed to Sweat It Out/label from Ajax of the Bang Gang Deejays) serve you with a nice oldschool hip-house groove and a wobbling bassline.

Released on Shir Khan’s label EXPLOITED that already brought you Siriusmo (Allthegirls), Adam Sky vs Mark Stewart (We are all prostitutes), Shir Khan (Maximize!), Surkin (Killalady).
Crackin design by Marek Polewski from Floor 5 – recycling famous old recordcovers.

MSTRKRFT featured Choo Choo in their Essential mix on BBC Radio1 (btw - they also featured "Siriusmo - Allthegirls")

Once upon a time you hit the bull’s eye – just like that. It was the case when the italian highflyer duo The Bloody Beetroots did a remix of Audioporno’s „Choo Choo“ – a track that was never meant to be released. The Bloody Beetroot’s brute and monumental sounding dancefloor version got played regularly by Mstrkrft, Crookers and the Boys Noize freshmen Les Petits Pilous and later then caused a stir on blogs and message boards. Questions came up: When and where is this track coming out? Why has it not been released yet? How does the original track sound like? Well, you will never gonna hear the original version. Like said before - this track was never meant to come out. Nevertheless Audioporno and Berlin label Exploited decided to give you the long awaited Bloody Beetroots version and to put an eclectic Tacteel (Institubes) remix on top. The best deal we can offer!

DJMAG / DANCEFLOOR DESTROYER Review

ONLY FOR DJ'S/Fr/Review

Siriusmo, aka Moritz Friedrich, is a Berliner wonder kid. He's remixed for Simian Mobile Disco, Yelle, Kool Keith and is partner in crime with Modeselektor. He's also the studio neighbour of Jesse Rose , has contributed to Boys Noize's label and has gained plaudits from the legendary 2Many Djs (Soulwax) . His sound is simply hypnotizing.

This track 'Allthegirls' was featured on the critically acclaimed 'Maximize!' compilation which was released earlier this year as the debut release on new record label Exploited headed up by Berlin DJ and producer Shir Khan.   Everyone who heard ' Allthegirls' on the ' Maximize!' CD immediately fell in love with it!

'Allthegirls' is the second single off the label and follows the massive 'We Are All Prostitutes' by Adam Sky vs Mark Stewart which was remixed by Crookers. The single received massive support from all the scene's tops players including: Diplo, Justice, Headman, Bonde do Role, Kissy Sellout, Boys Noize, Munk, Jackson and his Computer Band and Jason Forrest.

So far the Yuksek remix of ' Allthegirls' has been tearing up the dancefloors as part of DJ sets from the likes of: A-Trak (Kanye West), Surkin (Institubes), Tim Paris (CracknSpeed), Freeform Five, Dj Morpheus, Bang Gang Deejays (Modular), Busy P (Ed Banger), Punks Jump Up (Kitsune), Makossa (G-Stone), Boys Noize, Bonde do Role (Domino), Colette (Paris), Modular Records. The track also comes with 2 storming remixes from French hero Yuksek and Denmark's favourite Tomboy (Whomadewho/Gomma).

Additional track 'Wow' is also included on this release and was also featured on the Modeselektor compilation 'Booty Bytes Vol.3'.   For their compilation Modeselektor turned down the temp to make a deep, squelchy hip-hop stomper. The original version is only available as a digital download.

Siriusmo is currently in the studio finishing tracks for Boys Noize whilst finding the time to contribute tracks for DJ Orgasmic (TTC) and The Bang Gang Deejay's (Modular) respective mix cds . Big things are expected of this young man and he's definitely one to watch in 2008.
